In MNEMONIC EXERCISES I recall π from memory by counting reps as I exercise. Custom color-tracking software checks me for accuracy and provides me with feedback.
The performance has direct meaning in that it integrates memorization and numeracy into my daily life. But using this system may also be effective for memorizing π: muscle memory and proprioception may be effective ways of thinking about and memorizing numbers.
I've also experimented with other "exercises" such as playing the recorder, climbing a ladder, drumming, and tap dancing.
